ALASKA FAR AWAY
As seen on public television stations nationwide
In the midst of the Great Depression, Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal gave over 200 struggling Midwestern farm families a chance to start over - in Alaska. Alaska Far Away tells the story of this bold government experiment, and the families who found themselves thrust into the national spotlight.
ALASKA FAR AWAY DVD:   $ 25  Now only $20!

WHERE THE RIVER MATANUSKA FLOWS
Companion film to our feature documentary, Alaska Far Away
Not a traditional documentary, this is simply the story of the Matanuska Colony as told by the people who built it, and who lived it. Three hours of material - interviews with people filmed during the making of Alaska Far Away - are organized in short chapters, so you can enjoy this film as you would a book - a chapter at a time, or all at once. Their memories form an extraordinary archive of the Great Depression, the New Deal, Alaska and the United States.

This is a two-disc set. Bonus features include music and scenic footage of the town of Palmer and the Matanuska Valley today. Note for educators: This film is designed to make it possible to show a short chapter (most are 8-12 minutes in length) in the classroom, and built a lesson plan around the subject. Our films are being used in classrooms from third grade through college.
