More Broadcasts, and Midsummer Savings

Happy Fourth of July!

Independence Day in the Matanuska Colony
If you've seen Alaska Far Away, you may remember a happy scene where the colonists are celebrating their first Independence Day in their new home of Alaska. Marvelous archival footage shows the colonists playing baseball, and enjoying a traditional all-American picnic complete with music and speeches. But the most memorable scene shows a long line of colonists shooting off rockets into the not-quite-dark midsummer Alaska sky.
